Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor. He has appeared as Copenhagen mayoral candidate Troels Hartmann in the drama series The Killing,[1] Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third series of Sherlock and the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. He was presented with the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At the age of 27 when he began his studies, he was accepted into the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from the school in 1995. He was also a part of The Killing's drama. Then, he appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill, which were both critically acclaimed Danish dramas. He played the role of President of Russia in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock. In 2018, he won an International Emmy Award for his performance in the lead character on the Danish TV drama Herrensveje. The show aired in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019.
