Amy Smart is a former American model and actor. Her modeling career started in Italy, where she was raised and born in California. She began her acting career at the age of 16 in The TV movie Her Costly Affair. It was a struggle to land an appearance on Starship Troopers. It was difficult for her to transition to acting because models weren't considered an actor, so they generally were offered smaller parts. Amy did her best to get noticed and was eventually offered larger roles beginning in The 70s, the movie Varsity Blues. Then she stepped into main roles for the 2005 romantic comedy film Just Friends which also starred Ryan Reynolds. Amy achieved the fame she'd been seeking for over 10 years, when her movie just Friends debuted. Then she went on to work in some of the biggest movies, including the Crank series with Jason Statham as well as Shameless in which she played an enduring character.
